What this site is
BS8484.com is a reference guide to BS 8484:2022, the British Standard for lone worker services, and to lone working more broadly: who counts as a lone worker, what the law requires, and how the protection options compare. It exists because the standard matters to a lot of employers and the accessible explanations of it were scattered, out of date or written to sell something.
The site is a community benefit project managed by Vatix, the workforce safety and compliance platform. That relationship is disclosed on every page, and the editorial rules below exist to keep it honest.
Editorial policy
- Every checkable claim is sourced: the standard itself, HSE guidance, certification bodies or named public documents. Where something cannot yet be verified, the page says so rather than asserting it.
- This site explains and catalogues the standard. It does not award, certify or endorse anything, and it holds no certification authority of its own.
- Vatix is treated identically to every other supplier in the accredited companies directory, and pages carry at most one clearly marked Vatix link block.
- Content is reviewed when the standard, HSE guidance or the market changes, and dates are updated when pages are.
- Corrections are welcome and acted on. If something here is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
